Our Children's program (the "Kidz Konnection") is divided into three age groups.  The "Sparklers" for up to 3 years old, the "Live Wires" from 3 years through 2nd grade and the "Blast Zone" for the 3rd through 6th grades.

Sparklers

Staffed Nursery (infant to 18 months)

Our attended nursery is located off the main foyer.  We have cribs for napping, toys for playing, and a sitting area for "worship" and singing songs.  Your baby will love it!  Available during both AM services.sparklers.gif

Toddler Worship (18 months until 3 years old)

Toddler worship, located in the nursery area off the front foyer, gives children a chance to sing and learn at the toddler level.  A trained adult teacher and helper take care of this group.  11 AM service only.

Bible Classes (infant through 3 years old)

These are offered for all ages during the 10AM hour.

A vibrating pager is provided to the parents of all children in the Sparklers age group.  We also use a tag system to protect your child from being picked up by the wrong individual.

Live Wires

The Live Wires is a fun an interactive time for the children.  This is a two hour program, arranged to last through worship and the Bible study hour.  The children learn how to worship while also participating in fun activities and crafts.  They learn at an age-appropriate level with Bible lessons, songs, and activities. Bible memorization skills are taught and the children are recognized for their achievements.  It is offered during both services.

We also use a tag system to protect your child from being picked up by the wrong individual.

The BLAST Zone

Bible Study is offered during the 10 AM hour for children of all ages.

Children in this age group often enjoy working in the Live Wires as discussion leaders, puppeteers or general helpers.  It offers a great opportunity for them to serve at their level and to learn and grow spiritually.

My child won't go to class by him(her)self, what can we do?
You can certainly stay until your child feels comfortable staying alone.  Our teachers are very experienced in working with shy children.  Usually after a while, they are having so much fun, they will not notice that you are gone.

How can I feel comfortable that my child is in safe hands?
Live Wire badgesWe consider the safety and well-being of all children to be of the utmost importance.  That is why we have instituted sign-in/sign-out procedures for all children up through 2nd grade.  We will never let a child go with a stranger.  Every child is given a nametag (nametag board pictured at left).  The parent or guardian that drops the child off is also given a nametag.  The child must be picked up by a person holding that parent's nametag.  This policy is for both members and guests.  For guests, we'll make a temporary tag for you that day.

Also, we do not put teachers in the classroom until we are confident in their ability to teach and treat children safely.  Many new teachers first "apprentice" under one of our more experienced teachers.  Most of our teachers have been teaching at WRCC or other churches for many years.

Additionally, we provide pagers to parent's of nursery-aged children (read more below).

Nursery PagerWhat happens if my baby needs me??
For those in our Sparkler's (Nursery) program, we provide a pager toeach parent so we can easily contact you no matter where you may be inthe church building.  These pagers are similar to those you might get while waiting for a table at a restaurant.  There are different codes we can send to you, based on your child's need.  We have found this especially conforting to the parents of young babies because they know they can always be reached if we have aquestion or concern.

I don't want my child to be away from me during worship and Sunday School, what can I do?
That is no problem.  If you would prefer to keep your child during worship, you are welcome to do so.
