My child won't go to class by him(her)self, what can we do?
You can certainly stay until your child feels comfortable staying alone. Our teachers are very experienced in working with shy children. Usually after a while, they are having so much fun, they will not notice that you are gone.
How can I feel comfortable that my child is in safe hands?
We consider the safety and well-being of all children to be of the utmost importance. That is why we have instituted sign-in/sign-out procedures for all children up through 2nd grade. We will never let a child go with a stranger. Every child is given a nametag (nametag board pictured at left). The parent or guardian that drops the child off is also given a nametag. The child must be picked up by a person holding that parent's nametag. This policy is for both members and guests. For guests, we'll make a temporary tag for you that day.
Also, we do not put teachers in the classroom until we are confident in their ability to teach and treat children safely. Many new teachers first "apprentice" under one of our more experienced teachers. Most of our teachers have been teaching at WRCC or other churches for many years.
Additionally, we provide pagers to parent's of nursery-aged children (read more below).
What happens if my baby needs me??
For those in our Sparkler's (Nursery) program, we provide a pager toeach parent so we can easily contact you no matter where you may be inthe church building. These pagers are similar to those you might get while waiting for a table at a restaurant. There are different codes we can send to you, based on your child's need. We have found this especially conforting to the parents of young babies because they know they can always be reached if we have aquestion or concern.
I don't want my child to be away from me during worship and Sunday School, what can I do?
That is no problem. If you would prefer to keep your child during worship, you are welcome to do so.
